Horses, horses, horses…

Sometimes at night, I hear a horse going down King’s Rd. Somehow, it didn’t bother me in the slightest to hear a horse passing by my apartment in the middle of the night. After all, my La Plata friends surely remember the nightly passing of horse and buggies. After most of the city went to sleep, people came out to collect scraps from the trash–cardboard, metal, glass, and other things to sell. Every night, you would hear the clip-clop, clip-clop of horses pulling these wagons around the city. Last night I was walking by an idling double decker bus and heard a horse. I looked around and then looked at the bus. Oh. The noise that an old London double decker bus makes when it idles is exactly the same sound as a horse walking on pavement.
